As a gift to True Skool for 10 years of positive youth and community services, celebrating and utilizing the elements of hip hop culture, professional Teaching Artist Viva Fidel is launching a powerful book donation drive called "Books for Skool". Viva Fidel who is a well respected Hip Hop performer is also the resident Art of Emceeing instructor for the True Skool after school program and has been involved volunteering with the organization since its inception. Fidel is asking for the community at large to donate books towards the establishment of an official True Knowledge Library. The True Knowledge Library will compliment all of the Hip Hop elements that are tangibly represented at True Skool's new location through the creative instructional DeeJaying, Emceeing, Breakdance and Visual Arts programming it offers youth ages 14-19. Fidel says, "I thought of starting up the True Knowledge Library as a way to of course promote reading and literacy amongst our youth but also to collectively educate the general public and our students on the importance of the "Knowledge" element within Hip Hop culture."
